Hello everyone!
I installed a new copy of Windows on my laptop and made two partitions. After two days system crashed, and I tried to repair it, but unsuccessfully. While I was trying to repair it, I had to force shut down several times. After that I tested my HDD and all tests (WD diagnostic tool,TestDisk, HDD Sentinel...) showed bad sectors. Could it be that force shut down and bad partitioning caused that much bad sectors or is there a possibility that it already had bad sectors? And is there a way to recover from that state, or I need a new drive?

Hello Lejla,

if you forced to shut down, then it is possible that this caused bad sectors.
The best way is to buy new drive.
But, if your system will crashed again(I don't know what kind of OS you use), then is good that someone check, what is the reason for this problems.

The procedure I would choose is to buy a drive of a (somewhat) larger size, CLONE hard drive with software that can handle bad sectors- see 'Hddguru Files' section for some free products, then you can fix copy. If true bad sectors are on drive continued diagnosis can worsen problem. If data is vital this is a very inexpensive process for any recovery company. They will use more sophisticated hardware that increases the likelihood of success inordinately.

Can you show us the SMART report?

If you need your data, try cloning your drive with ddrescue, and then use data recovery software on your clone.

If bad sectors were caused by incorrect power-down, then all you need to do is re-write those that were affected. Don't throw away the disk!
