Seagate external HD always busy, can I fix it with MHDD?

August 27th, 2014, 18:09

Is there any command available on MHDD that can fix a Seagate HD connected via SATA that stays busy? It makes no noises, just keeps spinning forever, with the leds on.

I've read a lot of related topics, but I'm new to this, so I'm not sure how to proceed.

The thread linked below says that it can be fixed clearing the SMART, but I'm not sure how to run the commands posted there. Do I have to connect to the HD with a serial cable or something? Any instructions for this?

Any help is appreciated, thanks a lot.

I've now found the page https://sites.google.com/site/seagatefix/ which is for Seagate 7200.11. Will that procedure works for the Freeagent GoFlex 1tb?
