Continuous beeps - hdd mobo or sth else at fault?

October 6th, 2014, 5:54

Hi,
I have an Asus P5K SE mobo which works (more or less ;-) without problem. But it has developed a strange behaviour recently. If I use it with a single Samsung drive, it boots to XP without problem. If I replace it with a Seagate drive (ST3750528AS, CC46) with Win 8, it gets past the POST screen and after that, starts beeping endlessly (same SATA port and cable). If Seagate is used as a non-boot disk (booting from the Samsung), there is no problem. SMART is ok and SeaTools finds no error. This all started after I began installing XP on the Samsung, with both drives in the system (and working well previously).
Have you encountered such a problem and how did you solve it? Thanks for any help.

Yes thanks, it seems to be some screwed up boot manager, never thought it causes beeping.
