October 27th, 2014, 11:16

Hello guys!
I have an Western Digital 1.0TB WD10JMVW USB 3.0 hard drive.
Untill tonight it was working very well. It was connected on the computer and I've copied som photos from this drive to another.
Well , suddenly started to click . Click , Click, Click ! An does not recognize the drive .

The Whole indicatives from the drive are :

WD10JMVW
5VDC:0.55A
DCX:5S1558RX3
DCM:HBMTJBB
Date:04. JAN 2013
WWN:50014EE60313A8B6USB
USB
S/N: WXB1A8253658
MDL: WD10JMVW - 11S5XS1

Somebody knows some software to make some elective head recovery or imaging ?
Thank's a lot.

Hi
There is no such software in the world....Once a head has failed the only solution is to change it...There is no other way.

Thank You for the response !
I have another question , please.
How cand I diagnose the Hard Drive regarding Heads Failure or ROM failure ?

It is posible even if it click's to recover some data without chanching the heads ? If the heads are the problem .

Thank you.

the answer is no, you can not recover data from such drive without changing heads (assuming the heads are gone.)
better send it to DR company if you have important data on it.

Hello aygun!

I'm afraid that there is really not much you could do about your drive, at least not from home. Trying to hardware repair it from home could possibly lead to more damage and it could void the warranty, if your drive still has one and you haven't opened the enclosure (as I suspect this is a hard drive from the My Passport portable series). This would break any chances you may have to RMA the disk.

If you haven't opened the enclosure or the drive, here you can check if and how you could RMA:
http://wdsupport.wdc.com/warranty/warra ... sttype=end
http://support.wdc.com/warranty/policy.asp

These are WD's Data recovery partners:
http://support.wdc.com/recovery/index.asp?wdc_lang=en

My advice is to not try anything risky at home as you could damage the drive unintentionally more.

Best of luck!

your case is 99% heads or FW problem, nothing to do with common software. take it to a local pro
