Hello HDDguru community first time posting here but I need help from some experts on my current data recovery options. I have sent the drive to the DR firm "Drive Savers", however they deemed the drive unrecoverable. Here is exactly what they said:
Quote:
This hard drive has suffered severe media damage in what is known as a "head crash." This is a mechanical malfunction that causes the read/write heads to make physical contact with the surface of the disks inside the drive, causing abrasive damage to the magnetic coating that stores the data. Our engineers worked on the drive in our ISO Class 5 cleanroom, but because of the severity of the damage in this case, no data was recoverable.

So now I'm here asking for what options, if any, do I have. Any help is appreciated, Thanks for reading.

High chance it is the truth and recovery chances are very low, if not impossible.
Most likely other places can take a shot at it, but they will likely ask for attempt fees.
If desiring a true best shot at data recovery, recommend only hiring the best possible. Hopefully, cost is not prohibitive.
Calling and emailing such places for consultation is free. Take your time and choose wisely.

Ask to see if they will provide you with a photo so you can get a second opinion without wasting too much of anyone's time. If not, just get the drive back and send to another lab (letting them know the full story) for a second opinion.

But, as labtech says, they are likely correct with their diagnosis.

Thanks for your replies. Unfortunately I neglected to ask for photos as this is my first time dealing with data recovery however I will ask for photos from the next lab I send it to. I hear jono-ats is well revered around these forums and I was also thinking of CBL data recovery, especially since they're located right next to me in NY, any other DR labs you guys can recommend for a second opinion?
