Hello
I have a Samsung 1TB (HD103SJ) hard drive which i bought 2 years ago and last year it stopped spinning up. I was able to fix this issue by removing the TVS diodes and bridging the fuse that was on the PCB.
Since i was unable to get another hdd, i used this hard drive for a few months, when it happened again and the hard drive would not spin up. I tried removing the TVS diodes again, but still no avail.

What should I do to get my hard drive working again?.
Is there something I can do to fix the existing PCB?
or should i go for a PCB swap?.
If so where can i get the PCB (bf41-00359A-00 rev.01 r00) (which also allows shipping to sri lanka) and do i need to swap out any chips on the PCB?

Thanks in advance. :o

You need to transfer the flash memory:

That said, if your drive was hit with a second surge on the +5V supply in the absence of a TVS diode, then there is a serious possibility that your preamp is dead.

BTW, your two statements appear contradictory:

Thanks for replying @fzabkar :D
To clarify, After i removed the TVS diode the first time, i used the drive for a few months. Then, just before the drive stopped working again, I replaced the TVS diodes and the fuse and the hard drive stopped working only afterwards. It was then I removed the TVS diodes , to no avail.

Anyways, where can i get the replacement PCB for my HDD?
or is there some hope left for my current PCB?

Do you mean in this sentence that once the soldering of new TVSs work was completed, on the next power on, the drive stopped working? Or after the soldering work the drive actually worked fine and then it failed?

After resoldering the TVS diodes and fuse, the hard drive did work for about a month before it stopped working. it doesnt even spin up now

If after testing the TVSs and resistors you concluded there were not the issue, then most likely the problem lies with the ROM. Occasionally the ROM gets corrupt for unknown specific reasons.

Measure the voltages at the onboard regulators.

If these are OK, then you would need to dump the contents of the "BIOS IC" in the following photo:

A common problem with these ROMs is corruption of the "FIPS" data. The fix is relatively straightforward, but you would need a device programmer.
