This drive was dropped to more than likely has head damage. Its a USB drive so I swapped the ROM from to a matching SATA board. Drive still clicks and shuts down which is not surprising. Howver the board does not return micro jog information? Why would that be?

The PC3K utility doesn't support it with that drive.

FWIW, here is how to find the microjogs in module 47 of a typical (?) WD ROM.

Headstack matching for Western Digital:

You might like to try m4sterful's donor matching tool:

I just checked module 47 in a WD20NMVW-11AVS30 ROM. It appears that there are zeros in the microjogs record.

Code:
Offset(h) 00 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 0A 0B 0C 0D 0E 0F

000001E0  00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
000001F0  00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

Hi Jono
I have opened Mod 47 in PC3K and the microjog parameters still returns '00'. So....is it not supported in PC3K because the data is stored in a different offset in that particular module? I guess the question I should ask - is this just a peculiarity with this drive and not something wrong with the ROM mod and should not affect a head swap

@fzabkar - Thanks for that link, really good reading.... I have also attached the ROM from this drive and I would agree that pattern in hex does correspond to the number of heads, so I think you are correct.

It's a known issue with Shrek drives in PC3K, according to TS they are working on a fix.

Could you also mention what processor it uses (88xZZZZ) and PCB number (2060-xxxx)?
