Old WD Caviar 2420

February 10th, 2015, 15:18

I've got a WD Caviar 2420 in MDL WDAC2420-006 Date: 3 FEB 95.

The drive spins up, DRDY & DSC, Shows correct Model and Serial with 0 LBA. 2 Platters, 4 heads I'm getting an IDX light so I can assume at least one of the heads are working.

I dont have a PC3K to check firmware but the Model and Serial do not show up with PCB alone so I assume it is correctly pulling from SA, Is there any hope of salvaging this drive without firmware tools? I am not aware of WDs with 0 size issues before.
