I recently bought a 3tb wd green hd, which I dropped to the floor, and since then not work.

I opened the hdd and the platters are ok, nothing seems damaged but when I turn it on, the platters starts rotating and the head tries to read the platters but returns to its original position without doing anything. After a few seconds the platters stops to rotate.

Maybe the head is damaged?. Where can I buy a head replacement?.

I'm pretty novice in hard disk repairing world but i think this is the perfect chance to start learning

Yes, I would assume the heads are bad but there could also be scratches on the lower platters. Without the proper tools you will not be able to fix the drive. Did you open it in a clean environment / clean room? If not there will be dust inside the drive now and that will kill new heads fast.

You can only get head replacements from working donor drives, either you have them in stock or you have to seach for them (ebay, donor drives, ...). One more thing: You will not be able to "repair" a dropped drive, head swap is used to get the drive in a more or less working condition for data recovery, when you have the data the drive is of no use anymore.
