Dear Sirs! The spyware appeared and ways of HDD physical firmware patching? unallowed modification appeared now. I have read in this article that there are drives with security measures checking the originality of firmware" Most modern hard drives from top brands around the world have some additional security measures and they check to see if the firmware is original," he said. "If it's not, they don't allow the firmware to work.)"
Please inform me about such models if you know some.

then you have to think: Do I trust the firmware authenticity checking mechanism? can this method be patched to return "authentic" even when it is not?

Think of software signed by companies.. such as some malware that was signed with Realtek and JMicron certs. The Certs are supposed to prove that "This software is officially from Realtek because it is signed by Realtek" but if the mechanism is breached you can't trust it.

when do you stop trusting things? well last couple of years has shown that you cannot really trust anything. Our own governments have pretty much destroyed all mechanisms of trust in our society, so where do you go from there?
