Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

Hi there!
I have an old 500GB hard disk unit Seagate which suddenly has died within my computer.
At physical level it sound pretty good, but It's not recognized by any computer/operating system... From some preliminar researches, I'm thinking about PCB controller change from any other old harddisk from ebay.
I've found lot of ST500 but I'm just trying to ensure that core parameters are similar i.e. firmware version (KC44 in my case). Just two quick questions, which hopefully you could answer easily:
Are there any compatibility charts in terms of firmware version or models? and maybe before... Do you think that PCB Controller change it's a feasible option in this case?
My HD datasheet is:
S/N Z2AEHGKS
ST500DM002
P/N 1BD142-301
Firmware: KC44
Thank you very much!
Best Regards,
Nyrco

most likely not a PCB issue, if you insist you can try.
anyway the details you have provided:

is irrelevant, what matters is the PCB no. : (like 100535704 for example) + you need to transfer the what so called ROM chip

Seems It's quite clear for everybody that PCB is not the key issue. Sincerely I hope that was a solution because it's affordable... I've seen potential HD donors around 50-80€ meanwhile a company budget could be arround 500€
what matters is the PCB no. : (like 100535704 for example)
If I'm not wrong PCB no: 100498558

if drive is spinning fine and there is absolutely no abnormal sound, you should get a TTL adapter, hook your drive and post terminal log here, which will help you and other members to understand the problem.

Ok I'll try.
Is there any specific post of how to connect TTL adapter?
