August 10th, 2015, 9:13

Can someone pls. guide me for a Samsung case ---
drive has single head , in udma test it shows working fine . SA is accessible & all modules including defect list is readable.
however I am getting hugh read errors & copying is not possible.
I have tried soft reset / jump and other techniques but still error persists
What else I can attempt ?
I have attached detailed logs ..

what comes on terminal might indicate exact issue.
I suspect weak heads. Often head check in udma is not 100% true.

Drive throws following in terminal--

SRST SRST SRST

unfortunately samsung manual does not list this code.

This is true
some drives shows healthy heads but actually they are not reading well.

yes even in Samsung manual it is clearly mentioned. Is there any other reliable way of head test.

i think it is little bit complicated when it comes to heads testing, heads have both read write functionality, sometime heads can write but can't read and vise versa.

so, you have to decide by observing drive performance whether heads are culprit or not.

by the way you have no choice but to swap heads and see your self.
