Hey all. Wanted to ask a question I couldn't seem to find an answer to anywhere. Guessing it's because this is a relatively new product...

Just bought this Seagate Backup Plus Fast, 4TB. It's got two 2TB drives inside, factory configured as RAID0.

My question is, can this RAID setup be revoked? I want to partition this drive anyway, so it'd be nice to just split it up into two separate 2TB disks. Trying usual methods ($ appleraid delete) didn't seem to work. I'm suspecting that this is a proprietary, hardware-controlled RAID configuration, but can't seem to find any information that confirms or denies this.

What do yall think... Any other methods I can try to break them up?

Never used a RAID0 from Seagate myself, but quite possibly the device is too basic to support configuration changes like this.
But check Seagate Dashboard (or similar named utility), I believe hardware settings are there.

You're right D, unfortunately it is pretty basic, nothing as advanced or configurable as Seagate's NAS products. The dashboard has a testing function, an option to turn the LED light on/off, and that's about it.

I've considered just contacting their help desk, even though I know this is not something they'll support (perhaps even void warranty?). I imagine that if it can be done, it'll have to be through some 3rd party way.

I even thought about opening up the casing (which would def void warranty), pulling out the drives and formatting them each individually, then putting them back in and seeing what happens. I guess I'd rather keep the warranty than deal with all that though. Especially since my company bought it for me in the 1st place.
