Hitachi PCB swap - Damaged NVRAM

Hi,

I have a damaged Hitachi 2.5" PCB with a damaged NVRAM chip.

I have an exact match Donor PCB.

How can I programme the Donor NVRAM chip to work with the HDD, as if I understand right, the NVRAM stores a unique adaptive information which obviously is lost )-:

Who did you tell that ?

In any case you need dedicated equipment to do that OR / AND the know how to do it , in the worst case it needed to be "rebuilt".

Data recovery "specialist" that did't know what to do with it

Why would that specialist open the drive if the problem was with the pcb?
Perhaps, since you said this drive has suffered water damage, they wanted to check if interior has been affected too?

Anyways, I think that you should give up if there has been water damage. Maybe that "specialist" was not too wrong, and internals are damaged by water. Someone with the right knowledge and equipment must look inside. If interiors are clean, then you must replace pcb and transfer adaptives from one board to the other.

Is possible, but is much more complicated with 2.5" models. You need to make sure this gets handled by somebody who actually knows how to handle this case.

Yes. Study how exactly the firmware of hitachi/ibm work and what is expected to find in that chip. Then program the chip. Simple. Or send the stuff to someone who will analyze the disk and do it for you. Or find 1 in 100 pcb that work. Or...

No it's not a joke. It's exactly how it works. I am not going to explain a detailed structure of the FW including what's in NVRAM anyway.

When you do a lot of QUANTITY work, one day you may/may not choose the Quality side
