Have you guys had experience with this yet? New PCB layout and different terminal connection. MCU is 88i1047-NDB2

check if there is E71-75 (on the other side), and if there is check if it's the SATA Tx/Rx (probably yes)

Obviously you should be looking for two pairs of capacitors and two sets of parallel traces. The bottom of your PCB would probably show them up better.

Here is my guess:

A Google search for PCBs with the 88i1047-NDB2 controller turns up the following candidates:

    2060-771978
    2060-771942
    2060-800001-002

Here is a low res photo of the 2060-771978 PCB:

You can see the SATA Tx/Rx pins of the MCU.

We've got one of these with bad heads.

There is not a SATA donor yet, AFAIK.

Swapping the stack of 10 heads is a bit tricky -- a post is in the way.

There's not compatible SATA board to my knowledge, how to go the solder-tiny-wires route, not my idea of fun.

Jon, do you have a pic of the internals? I'm hoping I don't have to open my one up.

Here are some internal shots.

Note that there is not a lot of clearance for a head comb, due to the nearby post for the preamp connector. 5 platters and 10 heads.

I think the SATA data may be among the two pairs of caps shown going to the bridge IC.

This 3TB drive is from the Spyglass family.

What's the board number of the USB PCB? Is it: 2060-800041 ?

Have You Tried This Yourself .As Far As I am concerned Its a Matter of 5 Minutes To Trace the Traces of SATA From MCU .

Anything In Between The Heads For Separation [ Like Pill Foil ] Etc Would Do And Once PCB Connector Of The HSA is Out I am Sure Its a Easy Job .Lately We Have Started To See Many 10 Head Drives in HDDguru in 3.5" Form Factor And Also Now 2.5" Form Factor .Is it even Fatter Then the 2TB's They Are Selling Sir
