Toshiba MK5056GSY not detected by bios.

May 16th, 2016, 23:12

Hi, I have a Toshiba MK5056GSY notebook drive that is not being detected by bios.

I removed it from laptop and connected it to desktop computer. When the computer boots it hangs at detecting this drive . It all started by the laptop overheating . I used the laptop one evening, closed the lid and came back to it the following morning and it was extremely hot. I turned it off and left it off for several hours. When I turned it on it seemed to be ok. I turned it off and when turning it back on again the drive was not detected. The drive spins up but makes a faint sound, can only hear it when holding ear to drive.

Where do I start looking since it is not being detected? What can I look at myself - curios?

Next - Recommendations for Data Recovery service.

Thank you!

I don't see what you can do by yourself. I would say it is something with system modules, but to be able to work with them you need to have something like pc3000 or private utility from pro or vendor commands.
