I have a WD10TMVW-11ZSMS4 with bad heads. My potential donor: -11ZSMS5. Both DCMs: xxxT2xx, DOM 3 mo apart, same mfr site. Should be fine right? Here's the catch...patient PCB is 771761, donor is 771814. The obvious difference is the motor controller IC and associated circuitry.
This is either the first time I've run into, or the first time I've noticed this difference between a patient and donor that meets all the standard matching criteria.
I am inclined to think that this difference will not affect head compatibility but thought I'd better ask the opinion of those more experienced than I...

Thanks guys!
Sam

I'm unable to get those values. The drive ID'd on the DDI when I first started working with it (though it took about 20 sec). Unable to build heads map and wouldn't ID again. On my diagnostic suite, drive becomes ready but software locks up when trying to load from drive. I probably should have powered off the drive at the first sign that things were getting worse on the DDI.
If the donor heads just don't work it's no big deal--I can find another donor. I just don't want the donor heads to cause damage.
Just the fact that the motor IC is different means that so are at least some parameters of the motor. And I wasn't sure if this would influence measurements, spacing, etc on the inside of the drive.
I'll take a look inside and post the labels.

Labels are more similar than labels on many compatible donors I've seen in the past.

Update:

Sliders matched and donor HSA worked beautifully.
