Hi, Northwind. I think you're right. I'll try the steps you mentioned and if that doesn't work, taking it to a Data Recovery lab is probably my best option since I can't figure out the password. Thanks for all the replies, guys!

Perhaps the user could connect the drive to the Windows box to gain access to the data, then reboot the laptop from a USB stick containing HDDSuperClone.
