SAMSUNG HD103SJ shows a smart problem

July 30th, 2016, 9:45

I've experienced a few problems with rebooting to my win 7 system. Regular booting failed, safe mode worked. After running some work, looks like standard win 7 run creates a problem, which chkdsk /f /r corrects. Whenever I ran chkdsk, standard boot becomes available again, sometimes for a single boot session.
I've installed HDDScan 3.3 and ran it from a safe mode session (It failed to start on a standard win7 session), and the S.M.A.R.T. test shows the following single problem:
Current Pending Errors Count

Value=100
Worst=100
Raw(hex)=0000000000-0003
Threshold=000

Is this problem curable?
Is it critical?
Should I consider replacing my HD?

Try a full surface scan. HDDScan can do it, but MHDD (DOS) would be better. This will identify any "slow" sectors.

Hi,
Thanks for your prompt reply.
I entered my syste, using the MHDD boot disk and got the list of drives shown in the attach pic.

Which one should I choose?

Your drive is not showing. Have enabled BIOS setting to IDE/Legacy mode?

I searched for this option in my BIOS settings and failed to find it

It has been a while since I used the old Award BIOS, but from memory I recall that the setting is in under Integrated Peripherals, normally there should be options there to select between IDE (Legacy) / AHCI / RAID modes.

The drive is set to IDE. "Legacy" isn't added to this term and the only other option is RAId.
