I am attempting to repair / do recovery on a samsung 2.5" usb drive (external). Still new to the data recovery scene and building up experience.

Anyone here have some tips and guides for me to follow up on ? I do data recovery with a deepspar on normal Sata Drives.
Client dropped the external drive.

What noises is the drive making? Highly likely after this model is dropped that it will have sticktion.

First you should convert the PCB to a SATA one and transfer the ROM, then post terminal output.

By the way DDI cannot build a heads map for this drive. You should look at using another tool for Samsungs.

Made a phazer sound in the beginning. Powered down and powered up again, heads lift onto platter and then after a minute docked itself.

Hmmm DDI won't work ? What is the process to convert the pcb to SATA and transfer the rom? Never did the PCB SATA solder before but did learn about it.

What tool can be used to read Samsung Drives ? Atola ?

If it has been dropped, it would be best to check for damaged heads before powering the drive on. If a head is damaged, the more you run it, the more you risk scratching the platters.
