Hello guys!

I have WD15EARS-00MVWB0 HDD (1,5TB 64MB cache), witch cannot be visible in windows. There is all the time "Installing device" process with no ending (but no error or fail information).
I think it is a PCB malfunction and I want to try to replace it cause there is some data that I need.

So now the question. Can I replace PCB with a similar model, or there must me exact same PCB? Exact same does not exist on ebay and on my local auction services so i have a little problem. Maybe there is a way to reprogram the similar PCB to fit to my HDD?

If yes, where can I search the information how to achieve my goal?

If the drive is spinning, then more than likely not a PCB problem.
Typically this model drive has bad sectors, firmware and mechanical problems.

Have you seen anything strange with the behavior prior to failing?
Is the drive from an external enclosure?

I`ve attached screenshots from SMART test utility.

I`ll try with that firmware software that you pointed.

Hello lolszowy, your drive is detected as 128GB when it shloud be detected as 1.5TB size. Seems to have some firmware issue. Have you connected it into other motherboard?
Best,

F
