Seagate Momentus 5400.6 500GB - Failure after disconnection

October 24th, 2016, 17:31

Hello,

a failure occurs after transport of my ext. HDD (exFAT format) with my notebook. Of course in switched-off state. No big shock noted (but not excluded by 100%). Is it possible that it's in electronics? 12V section seems to be ok. Motor switches on. But no typical "chirring" sound of reading (maybe only 1second after start). OS (Win and OS X) finds HDD but it's not accessible in any way.

Is it possible, that only 5V section is off? (fixing by changing TVS diode??? That was my previous and only issue that I solved)

Sound (audio) record after start-up here

Please could you give me an advice.

This is Seagate Momentus 5400.6 500GB from Apple MacBook Pro

Pictures... only Win7 (OS X shows that used space = max space

Electronics it's not the fault.

You might have a bad head or media damage.
If data is really needed, you should stop working with it and send it to someone who can image it before it completely fails.
