I've got a disk here that fell to the floor, and now it's making a sound I have no idea what means. Not a terribly good recording, but it's possible to hear the sound if you turn up the volume.

Any ideas what it means, what part that have failed? The disk does spin up, btw, and the squeaking noise runs a few times before it stops trying.

Your drive has stiction, you should take it to a DR Pro for free quote and recovery, this is not a DIY

What's stiction? Stuck reading heads? Are you sure that's the problem, as it does spin up.

I should mention that I do run a recovery company, only I work with flash medias most of the times, and hhd's like 2 times a year. Won't be opening it if it's a difficult job.

hard to hear on the video. Well if the drive spins the heads are dragging on the platter most likely media damage, if you have a cleanroom do a visual inspection and do not power the drive any more. if platter are in good shape, no scratches it may be a chance to recover the data but you will need something like PC3k or MRT to acquire a clone

You can check with Ibas: Data Recovery there in Norway

And by the sound of it, most likely media damage too.
