Ok, i've applyed all the sys93 patches by F command and the drive is responding VERY SLOW even with sysfile 93 patched.

Also reading FW is very slowwww...

For example it would take 3 hours to get sysfile 35 (641k) from head 0.

This is insane. I only applyed the mentioned sysfile93 patches and re-set S.M.A.R.T.

At this point i'm not going to do anything more to the drive as :

1) OP doesn't have hardware based imager.
2) Heads are almost gone and if we keep doing stuff to the drive we will end up with a nice ring on the platters and it will be un-recoverable for sure.

so ...

PLEASE do TAKE THE DRIVE to a proper data recovery firm. DO NOT POWER UP THE DRIVE anymore and DO NOT USE ANY TRANSLATOR COMMANDS on the drive as V40 shows 2 entries and you don't want to make matter wose, as it's more then confirmed that the heads are not working properly and reading firmware at proper speed.

Without practice doing a head replacemnt on this model is problematic/impossible.

Without better tools like at least something to show ATA registers and scan the media at ASCII mode I can't do any further teamviewer/assistence work as it would be VERY DANGEROUSE to continue working on your drive.

I'm very sorry but i trully think that you shouldn't continue any further without taking the drive to a proper data recovery firm and tell them what was stated here (point to this thread if you want). Just make sure they are a proper reputable data recovery firm and that they will open the drive on a proper hepa 100 clean room to inspect the heads for damage. At this point you are taking a very high risk to end up with scratched platters/media damage if you move further and you will not acomplish anything anyway because you don't have any means to clone the drive by hardware and even if you have it would take ages to clone with the heads on that condition and most likely you would end up with platter damage.

Regards and good luck.

Today I open the drive I have seen heads bended up. It has only one head on each arm
Nothing happens on platter surface

Did you replace them ? Can you image the drive now ?

I told you .... if you were to continue you would mess up the drive for sure....

What were you expecting to see ? You are supposed to open the CLIENT drive inside a hepa 100 clean room only after testing the head swaps with at least 5 or 10 drives of the same model ....

If you are sure that the "Bad sectors" are not caused the inability of the head to read .... And if you are sure that the heads were not damaged by the bad sectors .....

:? :? :? :?

I would start by using a proper drive that you are sure to be working fine and not some junk drives to save costs ....

But at this point your client is already screwed i guess .... Starting to think that it was a BAD idea to advice you in the first place.

If you couldn't do the recovery you should have told your client to send the drive to another place or to outsource it yourself.

It's no longer safe to proceed any further.

Sadly a little information in the wrong hands is a very dangerous thing to play around with.
