Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

Hello,
The system and all the programs which I use are installed on the same drive. Microsoft Word 2016 stops working and has to restart when autosaving a large file (e.g. 20 mb) on the WD Red drive (5,400 RPM). I did not have this problem on a SeaGate drive with 7,200 RMP.
The two drives can be combined for a better performance of programs and the system. For maximum performance, should I install the system on the 5,400-RPM drive and all the programs on the 7,200-RPM drive or vice versa?
