HP WIDE ULTRA320 SCSI Model: BD1468A4C5 PCB Problem

December 22nd, 2017, 4:37

Hello everyone
Can anybody help me about this drive which has PCB problem most probably. There are two HP scsi drive on picture and they have same PCB. Can anybody give me some advice about pcb, where are the fuses and diodes etc. Drives PCB is damaged because of my wrong power connection (5v to 12v and 12v to 5v most probably I'm not sure). Which component should be damaged in that situation.
Thank you for your help.

Here is a similar thread:

Start by measuring the 5V and 12V TVS diodes and their associated fuses.

Thank you very much for your fast reply fzabkar. I have another question about this drives. Do you know is it possible to PCB replacement between this drives? Their model numbers are same. And what do you think about adaptive data or ROM solder desolder?

Sorry, I don't know.

The ROM is the TSOP48 device near the connector. Next to the processor

I believe that the OP wants to know whether the flash memory needs to be transferred from patient to donor. That said, it would be easier to desolder a TVS diode and replace a fuse, assuming that is where the problem lies.

Thank you very much guys, I have never seen HDD which used tsop 48 chip for ROM. Now Im going to change TVS and fuses firstly. If it doesnt work Im going to try changing PCB with rom desolder/solder. Does anybody know is there any other component on PCB which has adapdive data and I have to desolder it?

Instead of changing the components, test them first.

I tried to find a ROM example in the HDD Guru Files section, without success.

HYDATA DRT-SCSITOOL Server HDD SASFCSCSI Firmwares:
http://files.hddguru.com/download/HYDATA%20DRT-SCSITOOL%20Server%20HDD%20SASFCSCSI%20Firmwares/

Instead I found a firmware update:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp38501-39000/sp38683.tar.gz

The payload file, S3146707W3.frm, contains a data section which appears to define 9 sections in the ROM.

Code:

Here is how I interpret the "table":

ROM sections

00010000 0093FF0F 00930700 00930700 00000200   79300 - 793FF    100  empty
006C0000 0094FF0F 00940700 00940700 00000201   79400 - 7FFFF   6C00  empty
--------------------------------------------   -------------  -----
size     memadd   offset                      address range   size

AISI, the 4 empty sections could be reserved for adaptives.
