April 30th, 2018, 4:21

Hello,

I have a Samsung USB drive HM502JX drive and I want to connect it with SATA to PC3K

Can anyone tell me please which SATA PCB is compatible with this one :

PCB: BF41-00288A

Thanks in advance

Patient HM502JX/VPK BF41 00282A 00 usb Korea
Donor Hm500JI BF41 00294B 02 Sata China

Patient had water damaged. Clicking nonstop. PCB light working. But It's usb PCB. I am not sure about is PCB still good .
I couldn't get ROM .There is no external Rom chip. Tried to line Sata connector (removed 4 capacitors ). tried to RX TX point to read. But couldn't.

I have checked this topic also.

So I have 2 question.

1)Is that PCB compatible . Is this drive has unique ROM ? Do I have to read ROM from patient.
2) Is it compatible for head swap. (I guess % 25 )

Thanks.

Just make sure ROM is the same for original drive and donor PCB or "adapt" ROM by writing new overlays ...

I don't know this. How can be sure cannot read patient ROM. Any link to learn about adapt rom and writing oberlays ?

ISTM that there is a problem reading the main overlay from the MC.

Perhaps you could repair the SA after hotswapping the PCB from a good donor? If the MC has sector damage in that area, then you may be able to truncate the size of the overlay to its bare minimum. Hopefully the damage will be confined to the overlay's slack space, in which case the drive should work normally after this procedure.

Yes. I downloaded all 502jx files . There are 5 file .
Only 2AC01c4 has ROM.bin. other 4 include only modules.

Thanks for response.
I have a donor. Tried hor swap ( never did before. It's my first) but couldn't read modules. .
That log file belong to hddsurgery ROM . I writed (hddsurgery)ROM to donor PCB. And saw that log on patient .

Bye the way client says drive possibly had water touch. I swapped head. Patients head weak but working on donor.

I tried. RX TX Connection ok. I tried to get ROM. It's look like reading ROM as usual.. But ROM.bin file totally empty. No data in it. I tried get FIPS. (It's reading over RX TX connection I guess) There is data in FIPS file. So my connection ok I guess.
I tried 4 or 5 times with different methods as my guessing.
I am very tired about this case. Grrrrr.

Spildit wrote:Maybe your MRT is not working properly ? Try to read with SHTR ? SHT DEMO ? If it does work you might have a problem with MRT ...

I found a demo here . http://www.hddoracle.com/viewtopic.php?f=149&t=1221

But my computer 64 bit. Not work on my computer.

I tried write rom with MRT another Samsung PCB before this. Don't remember family. But was working. So decided to try this real case. But this not working.

Spildit wrote:I remember sometime ago people complaining about MRT problems reading some Samsung ROMs ....

I would try with SHTR ....

If your donor is 2AC101C4 as the HDD Surgery ROM and if the HDD Surgery ROM is not working maybe there is problem writting ROM ? But if so drive shouldn't spin ....

Maybe your donor was updated and now firmware is not as original ? Did you check donor/patient FW (what does it report on ID) ?

You could be true. So I wrote empty rom file to my donor PCB . Lol haven't check inside rom file before write patient ROM to donor. I checked inside rom file after write . It's empty. But donor working properly. So I thought I had writing ROM .

I never saw patient drives ID on MRT yet. Always busy mode .
only saw when check in windows device manager there is usb device .

I remember now. I had mount disk once with MRT. In windows there was around 200gb drive (original 500) checked inside with hex editor. Was full.0

I found 2 donor sata PCB recognised drive.
1 ) 250 gb MRT says correct capacity but 2 heads. But originally drive has 4 heads. Can backed up all modules and rom. Checked zone table info 1+2nd head 1 head , 3+4th = 2nd head. But can clone some parts around 40% of drive.
2) 400 gb . MRT says correct capacity and 4 heads.
Also cam read all modules and rom with this pcb.
I tried to check and explore folders. Exctrated some. So many files look corrupted. I regenerate drive info before it.
I guessed 2nd PCB would be full compatible. But not.
Is it about ROM? What is suggestions? Any way to adapt this PCB to patient?

I should find 500 gb same PCB I guess.

I remember,
250 gb pcb working directly
400 gb pcb working with hot swap ( sleep and change drive )
