hello guys,
My Seagate ST31000528AS 7200.12 1TB CC46 hard disk suddenly disappeared from bios on one fine day.
It still powers up, spins nicely and there is no ticking or unusual noise during start or while running.
I cleaned the PCB terminals but still no relief.
So I tried to check it using USB-ttl and I was able to communicate it with that.
I was able to power up and power down it using F3.
However it was not allowing me to reset SMART using N1
and was throwing below error in loop
- Code:
LED:000000CC FAddr:0024E485
After reading this post
http://forum.hddguru.com/viewtopic.php?p=166981#p166981I checked NRGL using V40 and it was empty.
So I thought it will be safe to rebuild glist (F3 T>m0,2,2,,,,,22) and then reset smart
I took log of the as many lists as I could, I have attached it here.
Still I thought whether I should open the pandora box or not for full half an hour and then
F3 T>m0,2,2,,,,,22
and then F3 1>N1
which went on smoothly,
after smart reset, the disk appeared on BIOS and Disk Management however its showing size 0
the V1, V3 lists now has huge size which were previously empty.
Now is there way to pack the monster back in the box ?
will it make it worse if I try N1 again ?
