I know Ontrack since its pre easyrecovery product line . ( I have used Tiramisu DOS for FAT /Novel etc)
Then came various versions of ontrack easyrecovery which were good programs.
Ontrack acquired UK based Vogon which was having proprietory technologies , own hardware softwares and skilled engineers in hard disk / tape recovery and forensics. Ontrack acquired Ibas another european company. Ontrack is having offices in US /germany and other countries with far more advanced infrastructure and resources in terms of hardware & software and skilled technicians
Recently I tried to have look at the newest version of E.R , I was shocked to see it shows easyrecovery developed by stellar - India based company. Software was far low grade with no raw recovery option nor any advanced features. Ontrack has sytematically degraded eayrecovery from v6.2
I am wondering why company like ontrack was forced to choose stellar which relatively very small in terms of technology .
Why ontrack has failed to develop products which competiton has created . (many softwares are awesome and I am happy to see many features added in each successive builds of a software .Developer is single person having only laptop as resource as compared to team of specilist and labs in ontrack.) Can anyone who is familier with ontrack pls. shade light on this.

I Believe that Kroll will continue to do recovery...but the focus might be shift into forensic services more and more.

Oh yes that could be the case as Data recovery has become complex than a decade ago with exploding drive size and complexities.
