Hy, all guys, I have problem with Maxtor 91021U2, i can access from PC 3000, with RIGEL module, and in diagnostic From. S.A Surface Checking, from PC3000
this is the report
DATA COPY1 OK
SELFSCAN OK
SWAP 1 OK
SWAP 2, BAD
DEFECT LOG, BAD
DATA COPY2, BAD
OVL COPY2, BAD
ULIST COPY1, OK
How can i repair the hard disk its possible to repair it? its necesary to run another diagnostic, ?

You will need a tool that can fin ( or remap ) the System Area of this hard disk.
If you know how to do, you can use the Selfscan feature of this hard disk and you can put it in the Selfscan condition and maybe this procedure can fix it.

- i have also this model in laboratory: uP FA520S60, cyl- 20151, head: 2, SA in head 3
- pc-mx-dsp in ver 2.01 read this hdd in RIGEL, set state in IRE.
- test module good - data copy 1, ovl copy 1, selfscan, swap 1, swap 2
- BAD ( but not all size of module !!!) - defect.log, data copy2, ovl copy 2 ulist copy 1, Ulist copy 2
- err eq 04hex
- but this hdd working good

I don't know if is the case but sometimes whe have some modules bad, because they do not exist.
And we know that the utilities from Acelab are not finished yet, so every 2 or 3 month they discover that the maxtor utilities need some changes.
When you have the PC3000 board you can use the Selfscan, but without the board I do not know if this procedure work, anyhow you can make a test and tell us what was the result.
