ST1000LM035 Rosewood Firmware Error?

November 1st, 2018, 22:50

I've got a ST1000LM035 that was pulled from a Seagate external enclosure. The drive spins up and sounds fine but data can't be read. Gsmartcontrol identifies it's model but is unable to read SMART data. Attempted terminal access and received the dreaded "diagnostic port locked" message. I see that this is a member of the Rosewood family which Seagate has firmware locked. I see that Acelabs found a solution for unlocking these drives. Is there any method without PC3K?

I suspect it's a firmware or NAND issue. Would it be possible to clear the NAND and then do a PCB swap with ROM transfer?

This drive is not SSHD, so there is no NAND on it. Mostly likely it is firmware problem, cab be further confirmed if terminal log is posted here ... It would be better to send the drive to someone with pc3k if data on drive is important.
