WD 4TB USB don't read ROM after PCB change

January 6th, 2019, 7:48

Hello,

I have a USB WD drive that had a problem in PCB, the customer bought a new drive with same model ID/PCB ID. I moved ROM the the good PCB and drive start working correctly.

The customer left me the HDA (of the new drive), I bought the same PCB REF: 2060-800041-003 REV P1 and I moved ROM to the new bought PCB.

Now, the drive spin well, Reaches readiness and run in Normal mode. it can read Model/Capacity/SA SPT, but doesn't read ROM. here what it shows in terminal:

Code:
Techno mode key......................... : Ok

Debug Stop Code reading................. : No data been read

RAM:
SA HDD has unknown capacity. SA CHS access may operates wrongly
HDD Info reading........................ : Ok
Heads number............................ : 10
Cyl Count............................... : 384

Zone allocation table................... : Ok
SA SPT.................................. : 2140

ROM:
Read ROM................................ : HDDs ROM reading error; unexpected error: Data request error; unexpected error: Abort command : No Additional Sense Information

Service area:
SA dir reading (ID)..................... : Ok
SA Access............................... : Copy 0,Copy 1

Configuration reading................... : Module ID 02 reading error; unexpected error: Data request error; unexpected error: Abort command : No Additional Sense Information

what could be the problem, Security or ROM? is there a way to correct this to have a Working drive?

Thanks in advance for your help,

Why do you think drive is not working ?

Thank you for your reply.

Drive (HDA) works for sure (its a new drive). and PCB works too.

I checked the PCB I bought and I found that its for 3TB WD drive (but same PCB Reference).

PC-3000 support said that the Firmware is locked.

Why do you think drive is not working ?

drive is not recognized in Windows (can't be initialized).

and in PC3000 drive can't read ROM and read sectors.
