Toshiba MQ02ABF100 BIOS Swap

May 3rd, 2019, 9:01

Tried to do a hot swap, but the donor is password protected and im running out of time for recovery. Ive replaced regular standard bios chips and motor chips but those are for boards I know and I havent encountered this with Toshiba yet. Id appreciate any help that could be provided in finding out the possibility in replacing bios I would be very thankful.

What are the markings on the 8-pin IC at IC10?

I have attached the voltage test points.

Drive does spin up and seek and get drive info, however once I try to do anything past that I loose power. I will test those points mentioned and post them.

Alright, after clearing glist so far so good however chip for motor is getting a bit on the hot side, but hopefully I can limp it along for recovery, if not I will get a better replacement. Normally I deal with wd and sometimes seagate so this was a bit foreign to me. Thank you for your information over this.

Yes I have access to lba, and with it running currently and doing so to where if it gives an error it will skip it completely, I would prefer if it goes till it starts to fail anything during the recovery, and then do fixes needed, unless you think this would be a bad idea.

I'm using ddi, and stopped to disable arre like mentioned. And I have it have it set to the same level I would have it for a scratched platter, if it doesnt read it rather fast or gets an error it will skip it pretty quick to prevent damage.
