To Dmitry: A request/suggestion for MHDD

April 1st, 2005, 2:15

Dmitry,

I know it can be done by making use of many functions (like ATOF, FF) but if you have the time, it would be really good to see a CLONE function which could:

* Generate a separated log (with bad sector lba listing)
* Clone directly to another HDD on the other port
* Fill found bad sectors with custom pre-selected strings
* Control the number of read-retries

I understand that you offer MHDD totally free and also that we must be very gatefull for having it - as i fact I am .

Please take this message as a personal wish to make your great hdd diagnostic tool even better.

I also like to take the oportunity to ask a question:

When an image file is created using TOF, uppon the encounter os a BAD sector what is MHDD behaviour ???

* abort copy
* skip sector (create a negative shift in the image file)
* leave sector blank in image file
* mark sector with some code in image file - (like "BAD SECTOR")

Regards,

That will be never included in MHDD. I already have drive-to-drive copying functions, but they are disabled in freeware version.

When TOF found a bad sector, it will be blank in image file (no shifts).

Hi Dimitry,
I beg your pardon, what do you mean by"I already have drive-to-drive functions, but they are disabled in freeware version."do you mean that if i were to pay for MHDD ,will i be able to get more features?I love your using your software and hope that some customization is available.I have seen some chinese technician who take 1 day to repair a 40GB drive with many bad sector, using PC3K.I don't know anything about repairing bad sectors except MHDD's remap, erase, erase wait state and makebad. But if there arer many bad sectors, there's nothing i can do,any recommendation??
thanks

I just corrected my message.
Also I do not sell anything, sorry.

Also I do not repair drives, so I cannot suggest what to do :-)
