but Doomer is correct, this particular drive is not recoverable.

I would argue with that.

I ran two tests where I incrementally increased the mechanical pressure to the top of the nand chip. This test was to rule out that there was a bad solder joint under the nand. The device behavior was unchanged so I am ruling out a bad nand bga solder joint as the cause of failure.

Regarding PC3000 support of Firecuda LX, I enquired with Ace TS as I have a ST1000LX015 in which requires access to the SA. The standard unlock functions within PC3000 do not currently allow access to TechMode/F3 T.

The response from Ace on 2 September 2019 was simply:

Hello John,

Unfortunately this model is not supported via PC-3000 yet.
Nothing to advise at the moment. Thanks for understanding.

Best regards,
Sergey

I am in the exact same place as the OP.

Drive does not spin, same board revision, serial port gives me the exact same message
Code:
Boot 0x80M
           DensityList:0x0000
PrgF
LED:0x000000BD FAddr:0x000059D8

LED:0x000000BD FAddr:0x000059D8

LED:0x000000BD FAddr:0x000059D8

Any updates on this?

Hello,

i doubt anybody will tell you the precise cause of that error, it needs to be researched on my side. I won't do any research unless i do the recovery. This probably applies to the few people able to deal with these drives...

Same as before
Some people can fix, some can't.
No commercial tools available so far.
Outsource is your friend

I have most of my important data backed up so I don't really mind losing the drive.

Doing this just for fun and getting some insider knowledge so I don't mind trying something potentially destructive.

Long time since your post - short answer is no. I lost a few files that it would have been nice to recover but not for $600. Other commitments caused me to cease researching a fix on my own. I just came back here today in 2023 to see if anyone eventually posted information on the unlock code - still not critical for me but I found that I'm missing another file that would be nice to have. Hopefully you found a solution.
