Hi,

So far i've been using internal or portable hdd drives for my media library that i use with plex on my tv's. However i decided to get external one that will be used only for that. For data backup i will keep using my portable ones like Wd My passport ultra.

I narrowed solution to two options, WD elements or WD My book, both 4TB. I saw cheaper option with Seagate but think i'll just stick with WD.

From what i found both have same drives and the only difference is that My book is having additional software for backup, hardware encryption etc.

Is that neccessary with my needs? Is it worth to pay a little bit more extra or just stick with Elements one. My book looks a little bit better though :)

Also one more question. This drives are using own power, does it make any difference to laptop work vs internal ones or is it basically same?

Thanks,
