In first, all my apologies for my bad english...

The hard drive is not spinning anymore. I dismounted the PCB and it is an MDK339V-0W. So I searched and bought a new Ebay but I was wrong and took a SATA instead of a USB ... Is it possible to convert the hard drive to SATA or is it possible to repair the Current PCB? I am a novice in electronics but equipped to act.

I have pretty good skills in welding, if need to disassemble a component, it should not be a problem.

Can you help me to repair it please ? For the moment, I just took over the soldering of the USB connector and check the fuse which is ok.

Disclaimer:
If you mess up the ROM chip (like bad (de)soldering, overheating, cracking), then it's game over, or you would need to expect to pay BIG 4 figures to get it recovered.

If that doesn't scare you, then your data is not very important.
So, if your data is not very important, write here the PCB number of both PCBs (the SATA and the USB). They have a code imprinted on the PCB that starts with G (like G2706A).

I'm not scared about all that things :p For the moment, i don't do anything on PCB so it's ok.

The original PCB (USB) : G4330A
The PCB for replacement (SATA) : G003138A
I'll receive another PCB in the next week so if it's not compatible, maybe the next will be ?

If your data is very important, you can purchase a replacement PCB from hddparts.com. The cost is typically US$50, and a firmware transfer is included in the price.

My concern is that the rom can be lost if anything happens during shipping there and back...
I also wonder if there is any reputable member from France around who could be contacted personally...

Since this is a Drive Repair rather than a Data Recovery, the user only needs to locate a reputable technician from France. If this is a genuine concern, then I recommend asking at EEVblog.com. It would be a shame if the user had to pay data recovery rates for what is essentially a no-brainer.

@kurtspirit, what is the model number of your drive?

Some models were affected with spindle bearing problems.

Can you hear any noise, however faint, when you put the drive against your ear?

It is not always clear what the overall purpose is. Sometimes it is not mentioned if the data has critical value or not, like in this case. Sometimes it is not even the owner of the drive/data who posts here a question and the owner has no idea about what's going on. So i would be careful with recommendations, at least before making it clear what the situation is.
