PCB rom placement 2060-771642-001 Rev P1

December 1st, 2019, 21:46

Greetings

I am working on a Marshal MAL32000SA-W72 3.5" drive that possibly has PCB issues. I have a donor drive with the same PCB (2060-771642-001 Rev P1) but it is from a WD2002FYPS. I checked online and saw that some PCBs come with a 8 pin ROM, some doesn't and some has the ROM info in the MCU. There is no 8 pin Rom on neither PCBs. Currently the motor does not turn with the donor PCB.

Should I try to find another donor for the PCB? I wont be able to switch the MCU if it is needed but maybe I can use PC3000 to write the patient's ROM on to the donor. Maybe the PCBs are incompatible? There is no difference in the layout or parts.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you for your time.

PS. I have been doing data recovery in a Japanese company for about half a year. I am still very much a newbie.
