March 4th, 2020, 9:45

hi gurus,

i have WD5000BMVV-11GNWS0 hard drive with usb not recognised problem
i can use the sata pcb and make full clean image without any problem .
but hard drive has user password so cant get any data obviously
i have a good match donor pcb which is fully working condition
i moved the U12 and U14 chips from patient to donor pcb but patient drive is clicking
i moved only rom chip , same result.
patient heads are fine , i have checked them with sata pcb, sa can be accessible, can backup all the modules and everything
donor pcb is fine too, it works on its

shall i move the inito encryption chip from patient on to donor as well?
i have tried to fix the patient pcb but couldnt find any problems on it.

Hi.
Just in case you didn't check don't forget the obvious simple things.

Regarding the clicking when powered by usb just make sure the usb port power source is giving enough power to operate the drive.

I have seen several WD drives which read fine but require extra power to operate otherwise they repeatedly click and spin up/down.
