Cloning PS3 HDD

March 5th, 2020, 9:23

Greetings everyone,

Have anyone tried to clone a PS3 HDD? I have a 1tb that is starting to be faulty, which means that it's time to be replaced. I bought another 1TB HDD and tried to clone the old to the new one. No results.
I've already tried using a lot of different apps and in diferent ways(using linux, windows, live USB boot) and all of them results in an error.

Is there any trick to clone it? Is it possible to use Raw Copy from a bootable disk?
Any help is appreciated.

Thanks
Pesset

Does the drive spin up?

Can you retrieve a SMART report with a tool such as CrystalDiskInfo?

Hello, if you can get it detected in BIOS and Ubuntu. Try to use hard disk sentinel and send a screen short.
It is just another utility to check SMART status as fzabkar said.

There is a chance that when data is accessed the drive goes BSY DRD DSC (which may have to be monitored too and may indicate towards a firmware fix)

Looks like the hard drive health will be low in general.

Please inspect for any noises too.

Thanks
