Hi,

I have a WD WD10EZEX drive that appears to be completely dead: the OS does not recognize it, the motor does not seem to be running. I suspect there may be a problem with the hard drive's PCB (REV P1 2060 800039 001) but I don't know for sure.

Assuming that the problem is caused by bad PCB, what would happen if I replaced the old PCB with a good one (obviously with the same revision and code numbers): Will the drive work? If the old data on the drive cannot be accessed that's fine. The question is whether the drive will work with the new PCB without any soldering etc.

Thanks

In a word, no.

Due to “adaptive” data specific to that drive contained in the “ROM”.
