Hey,
i have around 600 SAS drives what were used in storage servers.

sadly they are formatted with 520b but I need 512b.


I've used
Code:
sg_format --format --size=512 -6 -v -e /dev/sg3

to reformat them with a HP p420i raid card in HBA mode.
Sadly after formatting them I don't seem to have write permission on these drives.

i can't create a raid on them nor create an ext4 partition in HBA mode.


These are the drives I've tried so far:


Seagate Savvio 10K.5 ( ST9600205SS )
HITACHI HVC106060CSS600


is there any way I can use these drives?

Show the answer to the "inquairy" SCSI command?
Or what is written on the HDA's labels: FIRMWARE: ..?
Or take a picture of them.

They all are locked "on writing". Reflash needed.
