 Post subject: Seagate ST2000LM007 spin up but not detected

Hi everyone;

my Seagate ST2000LM007 gone instantly today. spins up nicely, no head kicking sound etc. but it is not detected in bios or several usb boxes i tested. pcb looks clean, no damage, burn etc. also all fuses and 0 ohm resistors are ok.

seagate seatool utility is crashing when i try to test that disk. also it has strange squeaky sound when i turn off the power.

any advice ?

It's likely a firmware problem, caused by another problem: bad sectors.
Difficult to resolve without experience.
Can you post a "terminal output? If not sure what this means, then search here on the forum.

Indeed, bad sectors. With accumulation of bad sectors, there are media cache and possible other issues.

i saved all data from that disk, thanks for helping.

somehow disk worked fine for a while and i copied all important information.

Hello My Friend....
Please help me out...i have similar issue with my external Seagate HDD st1000lm024....spinning okay...but did not detect under Bios and Explorere....windows disk management.

Kindly guide me...
