Hi friends, know i am new here but need some help please.
I work on it and always advise people to make backups but now my time has come also!

My hdd i used to replace every 1... wasn't replaced because of kids birth, house moove and many other things so it is dying and no longer can access to it by USB.

Made direct sata connections, get access to drive but it is not initialized and partittions not detected.

What is the correct procedure now? back it up? any way i can get back folder structure? Got lot of photos from kids and work organized in folders.

Not have many experience on linux but can can boot tit from a pen and work on it if necessary, just need correct tools information so that i don't risk loosing this... not my kids photos and movies please!

WD5000BMVV-11GNWSO
REF 2061-701675-604 06P
PCB 2060-701675-004 REV P1

Many thanks

Can you retrieve a SMART report with a tool such as CrystalDiskInfo or GSmartControl?

Can you show us the Partitions window in DMDE? (Don't do a full scan.)

Also got eprom/flash programmers, rework tools and some electronics knowledge but really need this drive files.
Lot of work inside, think this might just be anything corrupted? It started going off and on some times, but now seems to be holding on.
It was not a power supply issue because i tried it with higher current psu and resoldered micro usb adapter, check wiring and so.

Sorry, I didn't see your replies.

The SMART data look good.

Your drive appears to be encrypted. Examine sectors 0 and 1 to see the encryption type. The WD Unlocker and $Volume 02 are in the non-encrypted Virtual CD (VCD) area at the end of the drive.

You can try to decrypt the drive with a tool such as reallymine:

http://www.hddoracle.com/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=1488

Alternatively, here are "tools for opening some encrypted WD My Book drives in Linux":

https://github.com/themaddoctor/linux-mybook-tools
https://github.com/themaddoctor/linux-mybook-tools/archive/master.zip

DO NOT WRITE to this drive.
