I have a Seagate 2TB that has been plugged into the wrong modular power supply cable (This oversight on my part event toasted all four drives in my pc and this is the last of them!)

The drive is not recognised by any of my PC in the bios, I have tried a couple of different PC's. As a starter I have ordered replacement PCB board with a view to having the BIOS chip swapped onto when it arrives. this board looks darker in places than the WD RED 4TB one that was rescued.

owing to the success from my last post and in advance of this board arriving, are there any components that could have taken the hit which are simple to check?

the WD board which succumbed to the same event had 1 x TVS removed and the tiny fuse removed and bridged over courtesy of fzabkar.

Measure the 5V TVS diode ("AE") and the two zero-ohm resistors to the left of it.

the TVS AE Measures 0.000v in each probe orientation with the meter set to diode
the TVS AE Measures 5.5 Ohms in each probe orientation with the meter set to resistance


The two small resistors just slightly above and to the left a little of AE on the photo measure no continuity at all.

the single resistor which is directly above of AE measures 4.3 Ohms.

In that case it is highly probable that only the TVS and the fuse resistors are gone, so you may try removing the AE marked tvs then measure at the TVS pads in diode mode to see if there is anything else shorted. Then replace the affected 0 ohm resistors, or bridge them but be aware that this way the board lost all OVP on the 5V rail, so any further overvoltage would draw deadly consequences.
