Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

Thank you for entering
I had backed-up my laptop with a 2TB Seagate external hard drive, then I did use the same portable HD to reinstall Windows 10, and when I went to download it from another PC, apparently the download did automatically formatted my Seagate and I lost all my backup files, and also did create a small partition.
I did try with to recover with EaseUS Data Recovery, which did find about 700giga bite, which is about the amount of files I lost. But they all have different names and it is hard to find the files I wish to recover. Before I pay the website to save all those files back on my laptop, I am also trying with Remo recover which is still running now.
Then maybe I can even try to recover the same files into my internal disk but I think it will be a lot harder since a new OP is now running inside disk.
Any suggestion will be very appreciative
Thank you in advance

Sounds like you're looking at raw scan results - run something like rstudio or dmde over it instead and see what they find. You want to be looking for partitions initially, both tools will very quickly scan for them.

Lack of file structure is expected, as Media Creation Tool overwrote critical file table responsible for where folders and files were located before.
It is like reaping off the table of contents page in a book and then you need to scan the whole book to find out it's content.
I would recommend trying the demo version of R-Studio from r-tt.com.

Also try getdataback pro, it sometimes works better in these cases
