Hello everyone,
i got a problem that i don't understand.
i perform a head swap on ST8000DM004,
it's a usual head swap like i always do and the donor drives is perfect too in fact the donor is brand new.
but after i replace the head, when power up its spinning then beeping, not like head stuck beep, its different, this sound it's more like alternating beeping sound.
to make sure the head is not stuck, i double-check it. Indeed, it is not stuck.

can anyone please help me, why it's beeping like that?
i never experience something like this after head swap on brand new head.

Thank you very much

Could you upload a recording somewhere?
Without, it is difficult to say what you are experiencing.

i think you beep tone like buzzer sound. Replace the PCB and check.

I would check donor heads under microscope and or back in donor drive, will most likely reveal what you are dealing with.

yeah, a shorted pcb can cause pc3k power adapter beeping. Check with multimeter. If not shorted, attach the terminal log.

Okay - I expected the "beeping" came from the harddrive

we don't know that yet, it's just a possibility. A log would be helpful...

Why not?
Motor seizure or heads stucked to platters because of dropping or power failure?

i meant 'does HELIUM beep?' :)

anyway, OP said it is not stuck and it is spinning. So my bet is on either heads are 'incompatible' or just different enough to screw up the servo system.
A log - as always - would be helpful.
I haven't had this model yet, but by the shape of the cover i think it is not He filled, just a Perfectly Normal V11 Beast.

Yeah, it's not a He drive.
I've done a couple of them -- they're easier than expected :)

yeah, it is not a Beast, just Perfectly Normal, it's just for the phrase to be complete.
