Hello,
I got Hitachi Deskstar, Model: HDS721616PLA380.
It is not spinning and completely silent.
I get an identical PCB (identical PCB number and main controller number) but not worked.
I replace the ROM chip in the new PCB with the old one and still not working (not spinning and completely silent).
Any advice?
Thank you.

Where can I find if it gives an ID or not
I did not use any tool, I just connected it to the PC after replacing the ROM chip
could you please explain more?

What I replaced is SMD Ic with 8 legs and has the number:s93c76
when searched for it on the internet it called EEPROM in all founded sites
I do not know if this unit has an NV-RAM or not, How could it determined ?

Most often ROM in the CPU on PLA380

i don't have many of these but they have ext sfl, except one. So yes, it might be tricky from here

I reply before but it did not appears!
It is NV-RAM and it is number:s93c76, When search for it I found it an EEPROM chip
Can MRT read from this disk even if the PC bios did not recognize it?

It is NV-RAM with the number: s93c76
When Searched for it all result said that it is an EEPROM

ROM ID.................................. : AB0A
ROM Code............................. : 0x12ECFD0E
NV-RAM ID............................... : P22IJBCA
Ver USAG............................. : P22IJBCA
NV-RAM
----------------

mu code................................. : P22IJBCA
FW Ver Code............................. : 0x12ECFD0E
Everything must match between the donor and the patient.
Sometimes it is enough to change these values in NVRAM. Another time, look for a board with the same ROM version.

Thank you very much for this information Tomset
Could you please guide me to how change these values (web site link or any kind of documentation)

1) a utility for Hitachi, but they are paid.
2) subtract the programmer, correct the values, put the image here, someone will recalculate the checksum on the complex or in the utility. but you need to know the values from the ROM. and this is not known without the utility.

so what is these values you submit before?

this is an example from another disk HDS721616PLA380.
that you need to pay attention to.
MU CODE WF
P2BNEBEA 12ECFD0E P21OABEA
P2DNDBEA 12ECFD0E P23OABEA
P2CNVBEA 12ECFD0E P22OABEA
P2CNTBEБ 12ECFD0E P22OABEA
P22IJBCA 12ECFD0E P22OABCA
P2CNYBEБ 12ECFD0E P2CNYBEA
P2CNEBEA 12ECFD0E P22OABEA
they come across a lot of different ones, it's enough to change the MU-code in NV-RAM for all of them to work

I see
And you get these value from the Hitachi utility you mention before?
Please provide it is name or web site link for it.
