Hi , i am using WD Green 1 TB HDD ( EXACT Model : WDC WD10EZRX-00A8LB0 )

And i noticed some strange behavior recently ..

the Free space seems to disappear .. like say if E: partition has a total of 700 GB and i have used 600 GB of that space , so it should display 100 GB as free, right ?

instead it displays 5 GB as Free !

and when i scan the drive using utilities like spacesniffer .. it shows the TOTAL Space as 605 GB !!

meaning , that about 95 GB is disappeared and unaccounted for !

why is the free space disappearing ?!

I bought this disk not two years ago and this NEVER happened before

also .. chkdsk fixes this problem , but i don't want to do chkdsk everyday - please tell me what's the problem

I don't use anything heavy .. but i use Steam and Chrome .. i do think that when i started using Epic Games Store - this started happening them ( i was downloading the Division 2 Demo , but the problem started happening BEFORE i started the download )

I can't be sure what's going on, but using chkdsk E: /f solved the problem for E: drive

but the issue is also present in C: drive ( boot partition ) and i am scared if my Windows will get corrupted due to that .. so please help me !

i have used crystal disk to test... but i have no idea how to interpret the results , if they're important please let me know i will share them !

Use Treesize free in admin mode and see if that helps you.
