TOSHIBA MQ04UBB400 G-List not clearing

Hi
I got a Toshiba MQ04UBB400 with bad PCB, ROM moved to SATA and now the hard drive works fine.


Load Zones : .........................:OK
Cyl Num : ............................:397920
Head Num : ...........................:8
Vendor : .............................:TOSHIBA
Model : ..............................:MQ04ABB400
Microcode : ..........................:JS000U02

Defects in G-List : ..................9584

CP list:33,34,44,56,92,95,98,9A,9C,A2,A5,A7,A8,A9,AA,AD,AE,B1,B3,BB,BF,C1,C5,C6,C7,C8,C9,CB,CD,D0,D1,D3,D4,D6,D7,D9,DA,DB,DC,DD,EF,F1,F3,F4,F7,F8,FA,FB,FC,FF

I tried to clear the G-list i get

Clearing G-List,please wait......
G-List is cleared successfully!

But when I read the G-List again I get the same number or larger sometimes.
is there a way to move the G-List or clear G-List Manually.

tried to manually edit the g-list and save changes it gets "saved successfully" but after refreshing the list still the same no changes saved :roll:

probably heads can read but nut write

Well,
You go ahead with recovery ,This is not going to stop you from doing a recovery ,Why does everyone wanna clear g lists in toshiba ,Do this only if its creating problems not otherwise

I need the MBR and MFT badly since the customer wants few files out of full 4tb, when I started imaging the drive it started to give me all black sectors after the imaging hit the first one, which marked the beginning of the partition and the MFT as bad sectors

Try open with Com connection. Sometimes working .
But I think your case not about clear g list .

Very high number of defects in Glist, drive is not supported.

You have to patch the DD.bin module (if you know how)....

Why would you touch the P-List if your intention is to recover the data?

No. It says conventional hard drives, which means Data Recovery and HDD Repair.

I have MQ04ABF100 drive in my hand. MRT doesn't cleaar G list , Also dosen't open P list. even with Com port connection. Maybe MRT still not solve MQ04 architexcture yet. My version is 2.1.3.1

MQ04ABF100 is a SMR drive. Commands are different.

@LostDataSa, could you please upload your resource dump? I'd like to write a tool to analyse the P-list and G-list, but I need to see some working examples.
